The longer ending of Mark may not be original, but understanding this helps us understand what is original including the clear witness of the resurrection of Jesus.

Three women go to anoint Jesus dead body and find the stone rolled away, the tomb empty and receive a message from an angel. 

Jesus time comes - He is crucified even though innocent to atone for sin and conquer death.

Jesus is brought before Pilate and questioned.  Pilate appears to believe Him innocent but decides to please the crowd.  

Jesus appears before the Jewish High Council and is condemned for claiming to both the Messiah and Divine. 

Jesus prays and emotional prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane while his closest three followers fail to stay awake. 

Jesus has the Last Supper with His disciples, creating a new way to remember and participate with Him and His death. 

Jesus is "anointed" in Bethany - as a King and for His burial.  

Jesus continue His Olivet Discourse instructing His disciples that His 2nd and Final Coming will be at a time that they will not know or expect.

A few days before His crucifixion, Jesus predicts the destruction of the magnificent Jerusalem temple within a response to a question from four of His disciples.
